Early Kampilan

Extremely rare kampilan with wooden handle carved by a master carver. The very fine detailed helmet head in a style that has some relation with the Dutch late 16 century flintlock pistols. ( see example) .

The crossguard is very thick and different from the usual Philippine type. The blade with double fullers ,with a band of pamor and a quite long slope. The origin of this non-muslim kampilan could be the Celebes sea ( North Borneo-North Celebes-Talaud Islands)

Condition is very good.

See for another very early example with fullers here

18th century

Size:  105 cm.
