Kampilan Sangihe

An extremly rare find is this 18th century kampilan that most likely is coming from Sangihe or Bolaang Mogondow.

The hardwood handle carved with meandering motifs, some malay inspiration and the typical heartshaped "V" motif what is typical for North Celebes and older Talaud carvings. The blade has traces of rough beaten shaping, not suprising and typical for kampilans from that area.

The horsehair is restored.

A sword that even in museum collections is seldom seen and on the wishlist of a lot of collectors.

Size: 91 cm
